Back to Holland

So it has already been 3 days since I landed back in Holland. I have been pretty emotional the last few days in Sri Lanka and these first onces back. I can not describe in words how much these people in Sri Lanka mean to me. They are like my family. It is hard to leave them behind because I know I won't be able to talk to most of them. They don't have phones or internet and the language is a struggle as well. When I am there we manage with hands and half english half singalees. This second time in Sri Lanka really made me realize that I truelly love it there and after my studies I am sure I will go and live there for a few years. Being back in Holland, I feel so out of place. I started my studies yesterday and it all just seems so fake and weird. It is really hard to explain but it just feels that in Sri Lanka people really live. It is primitive but it is life. Here in Holland (or any other western country) we all have our routine and obligations but we don't really live life...

Because of the difference in culture and life I feel so distant from the people in Sri Lanka. Sunday the sun was shining and it made me feel a little bit better because I realized that the same sun is shining down on Sri Lanka. So we do have one thing in common in these completely different worlds.

I want to end with a thank you to everybody who has helped with the disabled home project. Without everybody's help it would not have been possible!
